Aero K Airlines Co. (Aero K), a new startup airline based at the Cheongju International Airport in South Korea, has selected SKYTRAC to provide global mobile data coverage to its fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft for domestic and international flights.

Aero K is currently in the final stages of obtaining an Aircraft Operating Certificate (AOC), and hopes to serve multiple destinations in Asia within the 2020 calendar year, starting with Jeju as a domestic route in August.

Aero K will rely on SKYTRAC’s mobile data coverage to access mission-critical flight data and enable pre- and post-flight Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) connectivity in the cockpit and cabin. The cellular data service can be used by tablet devices for cockpit, cabin, and ground crews to enable access information such as flight plans, weather reports, eTechLogs, charting map updates, and passenger manifests.

“Our goal is to become the leading airline in Northeast Asia, and that means investing in our pilots and infrastructure so we can optimise efficiencies right out of the gate,” mentioned Stuart Cross, Chief Operating Officer of Aero K Airlines.
