AERQ

Cabin digital platform start-up AERQ is discontinuing its business activities after a five-year build-up and development phase.

The company, based in Hamburg, says it will immediately stop offering and developing its platform-based in-flight entertainment (IFE) system AERENA aimed at commercial airlines. AERQ was founded in 2019 by Lufthansa Technik and LG Electronics.

AERENA recently launched for operational demonstration on an Airbus A320. The company says it represents one of the most advanced products of its kind on the market and although the product has so far met all expectations in terms of features, quality, and customer satisfaction in ongoing flight operations, AERQ was facing significant obstacles to enter a very sensitive market for IFE systems.

Due to this, the shareholders mutually agreed to conclude AERQ’s journey and part ways, with AERQ’s operations ceasing with immediate effect.

The company’s employees have been informed and  AERQ says it would like to thank its employees, suppliers, customers and partners for the trustful cooperation within the past five years.
