American Airlines is expanding its partnership with Pecan Lodge, the award-winning Texas barbecue restaurant, following the successful debut of its smoked brisket sandwich and barbecue platter on select flights. From 9 September, the popular first class meal option will be available on all eligible domestic flights departing Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

Rhonda Crawford, American’s Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design and Strategy, said customer response had driven the expansion, adding: “Customer feedback on the Pecan Lodge menu offering has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to expand this offering across flights from our hometown hub. Pecan Lodge’s bold Texas Flavors translate exceptionally well at altitude, making it a great choice for customers looking to enjoy a memorable dining experience in the air.”

Customers can select Pecan Lodge’s smoked brisket sandwich for lunch or the barbecue platter for dinner when available for pre-order on eligible flights departing from DFW.

Delivering an authentic Texas barbecue experience onboard requires more than simply adding a new menu item. The process begins at Pecan Lodge’s Dallas restaurant, where meats are seasoned and slow smoked using the same techniques that have earned the brand national acclaim. The barbecue is then carefully packaged to preserve its flavour and quality, while American’s catering partners prepare each pre-ordered entrée for inflight service — ensuring customers enjoy a genuine taste of Texas at 35,000 feet.
