After completing a successful trial, Icelandic PLAY Airlines has decided to fully deploy Blueview’s digital retail services across its entire fleet of Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft.
During the trial, Blueview provided passengers with access to the airline’s product catalogue and bistro menu, operating via the Bluebox Wow portable wireless network system. The trial was considered successful due to increased revenue and positive cabin crew and passenger in-flight experience.
“From the start of the trial, the positivity and commitment shown by PLAY and MOST to help ensure we achieved success made this a truly exciting project for the entire team,” said Kevin Birchmore, VP Global Sales, Bluebox. “For the full roll-out, we’ve focussed on refining the onboard retail service, and can now explore new ways to expand the potential of Blueview and different services which will add value for PLAY and its passengers. Discussions are already underway in terms of additional media, and other ancillary services.”
Now fully deployed, Blueview integrates with the PLAY’s retailing and payment platforms, provided by MOST. The airline has also chosen to use Bluebox’s flight-tracking map, games, and passenger survey functionalities.

Bluebox Wow Hardware
The Bluebox Wow hardware is lightweight and can easily fit in an overhead locker. It is available in battery-powered or aircraft-powered options and allows passengers to connect their personal electronic devices to the Blueview network.
