Korean Air has announced that the airline will begin transitioning Asiana Airlines bookings and flight numbers as part of the Korean Air & Asiana integration, marking a key operational step ahead of the integrated airline’s official launch on 17 December.
Korean Air will be conducting a phased re-accommodation process from November 2 to December 3 to convert Asiana Airlines flight numbers (OZ) to Korean Air flight numbers (KE). The airline says this applies to passengers holding existing Asiana Airlines bookings and tickets departing on or after 17 December.
According to the carrier, the advance migration as part of the Korean Air & Asiana integration ensures service continuity and operational stability as Asiana Airlines flights transition to Korean Air operations. Bookings will be migrated in stages to safeguard system reliability.
“Our main priority during this integration is minimizing disruption for our passengers and maintaining stable service,” said a Korean Air spokesperson. “By rolling out these changes in phases and providing advance notice, we are committed to maintaining operational stability throughout the handover.”
The airline says it will notify ticketed passengers individually via SMS, mobile messaging platforms and email with their updated itinerary and ticket details prior to departure. In addition, a dedicated frequently asked questions (FAQ) section detailing integration-related operational changes is also available on the airline’s official website and mobile app.
In cabin connectivity-related news, Korean Air announced recently that its complimentary high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi powered by Starlink will become available on board mid-September. Korean Air’s passengers will be offered the new broadband connectivity on select flights so they can stream, work, and stay online in the cabin the same way they would at home.
