Dr Paul Phipps, Comfort Motion Global’s (CMG) Chief Medical Officer and Director of Research and Development, presented CMG’s Healthy Motion Seating at the Red Cabin Asia summit in Tokyo on 4 December 2024.
Healthy Motion Seating is a patented technology to enhance passenger comfort and wellbeing in first and business class cabins on long-haul flights. It makes small adjustments to the passenger’s seating position without disrupting them, redistributing body weight to reduce tissue fatigue and blood vessel compression that can lead to pain and reduced blood flow to the legs. Mercedes-Benz and Bentley have both adopted the technology, and now CMG is focusing on airlines for the product.
The technology doesn’t require additional hardware or weight, simply software. Phipps presented the results of a 2023 study to the summit that proved psychological and physiological benefits to passengers in Healthy Motion Seating, with improvements in mood, physical comfort and better blood flow.
