United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) have presented a full-sized mock-up of the CR929 long-range wide-body during the China Airshow.

The full sized mock-up is configured in a three class layout with first, business and economy classes, as well as a CR929 flight deck.

The cabin is equipped with two rows of first class, three rows of business class, four rows of economy class, including an advanced entertainment system and interior decorations invoking a Chinese and Russian style.

Last year UAC and COMAC founded CRAIC (China-Russia Commercial Aircraft International Corp. Ltd.) a joint venture exercising the role of CR929 programme operator.

The CR929-600 basic version in a three-class layout will be capable of carrying 280 passengers. CRAIC also plans for the aircraft family to include a modification with a stretched fuselage (CR929-700) and cut fuselage (CR929-500).

“Co-operation between Russia and China in the long-range wide-body aircraft programme is an extraordinary example of collaboration in the international aircraft industry,” said the president of UAC, Yury Slyusar. “Competitiveness at the highly-developed global market of commercial aviation, especially in the most recourse-intensive and complicated segment of wide-body aircraft, demands integration of efforts, resources and strengths of each partner. It is subject to economics, technologies, experience and human capital assets. Our companies, UAC and COMAC, lead the way in such strong co-operation within the CR929 Program.”

The CR929 mock-up was designed by COMAC-SADRI and BAIDEG manufactured the mock-up.

Features include the introduction of ‘smart’ overhead luggage bins, multi-theme intelligent lighting, integrated passenger service units (PSU), a new bar area, and design of the new first, business and economy class cabins.

The design company tangerine proposed the concept of the bar area, first-class and business class seating, and galley division for the new aircraft.

The first and business class offer cutting-edge technology into the seating design; introducing a soft OLED screen, wireless charging, and multiple sensors incorporated into the seat to enhance passenger comfort.

Overall the trim and finish of the new cabin interior was inspired by the China-Russian cultural and contemporary references.

In a statement CR929 team suggested the design stage will be completed by the end of 2019.
