Spafax’s “Connected Content Stream”
The Crystal Cabin Award, held annually at the Aircraft Interiors Expo held in Hamburg, has announced the finalists for its special category, “Best Customer Experience”, to be presented at Apex Expo in Los Angeles in October.
The category is attributed to products that enrich and enhance the passenger experience, from planning and booking to inflight products, and products can be targeted at passengers, airlines, manufacturers and suppliers.
The nominees for the best integrated solution for passengers are:
- “Skyted 320” by Skyted, a whispering headset that enables undisturbed conversation in loud environments. Users can speak quietly into the headset and still be heard clearly on the other end with voice amplification technology and ambient noise elimination. The headset connects with an app and is compatible with several communication platforms. The technology has been developed in collaboration with ONERA, the French Aerospace Lab, and has backing from Airbus and the European Space Agency.
- Spafax’s “Connected Content Stream” (CCS) in cooperation with Sportmonks, a platform that delivers content to personal devices during the entire travel journey, from at-home viewing to Lounge Streaming and on-board entertainment. The CCS has a low bandwidth that counteracts high data costs during live streaming and is specifically tailored for sports fans to follow events live during travel.
- Thales’ Suite of IFE Accessibility Solutions, a suite that provides accessibility solutions to passengers, such as a signing avatar to complement Closed Captions, who can sign in multiple languages. The interface provides familiar structures to smartphones and tablets when using gesture controls, and addresses the needs of those with vision and hearing assistance requirements.
Apex Expo will be held from 28 to 30 October in Long Beach, California, where airlines and suppliers can exhibit innovations within inflight entertainment, connectivity, in flight content, design, hardware, software, systems and technology.
