Delta Air Lines, which is celebrating its centenary this year, has released a new 45-minute documentary called ‘A Century of Flight’, directed by Academy Award-nominee Joshua Seftel.
Highlighting the people, values, and teamwork that have defined the airline’s success, the documentary offers a unique look into how Delta became the first US airline to achieve 100 years of flight.
The airline says the film follows Delta’s evolution from its humble beginnings to a global leader in aviation and features personal stories from employees at every level, highlighting the airline’s resilience and its commitment to putting people first even in the face of industry challenges.
Joshua Seftel commented: “Many of the best films are about a group of people coming together to achieve the impossible. That’s what excited me about being invited to direct the film about Delta’s first 100 years, because that’s what the Delta people did. They came together time and time again to do the impossible. And Delta survived when so many other airlines went by the wayside. Now, a century in, Delta’s still here. It’s a story for the ages.”

New routes
In other news for Delta, the carrier will be adding two new island destinations, Sardinia and Malta, in its European route network in 2026 following Delta’s first-ever ‘Route Race’. It is an initiative that allows SkyMiles Members and Delta employees to vote on where the airline should fly next.
SkyMiles Members chose Sardinia, while Delta employees selected Malta. These destinations will launch non-stop from New York-JFK in summer 2026.
With nearly 150,000 votes were cast across Sardinia, Malta, and Ibiza, this marks the first time in Delta history that Members and employees influenced a network decision.
The Sardinia operation begins on 20 May 2026 and the flights operate four times weekly. Malta flights begin 7 June 2026, operating three times weekly. Delta says both are being served by the carrier’s Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
