Etihad Airways has curated a selection of food, drink, and entertainment to celebrate Ramadan and Emirati culture. Guests who are observing Ramadan and who are on flights outside of Iftar and Suhoor will be given take-away bags before or after the flight.
Travellers in The Residence and First Class will be able to try traditional lentil soup, Emirati-style rice-stuffed lamb shank, Emirati Mont Blanc with aseeda and white chocolate, an Iftar platter or Iftar salad. For Business Class, there will be a similar menu, in additional to chicken foga and a range of desserts including warm date and olive oil cake with Vimto ice cream, saffron and cardamom milk cake, Pistachio kunaffe cake with chocolate and candied pistachios, or Batheeth and black lime cheesecake. In Economy, the menu will offer Arabic braised lamb with vermicelli rice, fried onions and almonds, and a choice of Emirati desserts.
These delicacies continue over to the lounges at Zayed International Airport and London Heathrow Airport, with offerings including lemon and black lime marinated lobster, chargrilled prawns, beef and okra saloona, kunafa and rose cake, Arabic coffee tiramisu, and warm umm ali.
The airline’s IFE system, E-BOX, will also receive Ramadan content such as a cooking show with a diverse range of dishes.
Alongside these offerings, Etihad will be involved in several community initiatives during the Holy Month, and is inviting travellers to donate their Guest Miles, with the aim to assist the construction of three refugee settlements in Chad and to support displaced school children in Africa through the Meals for a Future campaign by the Amahoro Coalition.
“Each year, Ramadan gifts us the opportunity to share beloved traditions and flavours inspired by the Emirati hospitality we embody, bringing a sense of community to our guests around the world,” said Turky Al Hammadi, Director of Product and Hospitality, at Etihad Airways. “This Ramadan, we’ve aligned with the UAE’s Year of Community to reflect the importance of connection and togetherness, values that resonate deeply during this blessed month.”
