The concept uses naturally oiled wood veneer that can move to expose light in different patterns and colours. When turned off, the veneer shifts back to normal with no visible trace of the underlying lights. The technology was unveiled at the Red Cabin Business Jet and VIP Interior Innovation Summit, which F/LIST hosted in Vienna. It was created in the F/LAB, where the company creates new technologies and materials for cabin interiors.
“Our customers are always seeking new ways to enhance the cabin interior environment without adding bulky objects, technology hardware, or heavy components,” said Michael Mueller, Managing Director, F/LIST Aviation. “The Lightshifter changes the cabin atmosphere without any visible presence, yet the customisable sequences featuring colours, light intensity, and more effects can augment the whole cabin ambience and travel experience. Imagine the bulkhead of a business jet or first-class cabin seamlessly transitioning from a flat wood appearance to a textured pattern, with inspiring illumination. This is the kind of creative experience we’re delivering to our customers. It provides a true differentiator for airlines and brings a new design dimension to business jet interiors.”
“Once again, we are liberating the imagination with a never-before-seen concept, and we anticipate that customers will embrace the opportunity to surprise customers with the infinite possibilities the Lightshifter provides,” commented Patrick Domnanich, F/LIST Director Research & Development. “Lightshifter supports the full spectrum of lighting requirements from providing cabin lighting without imposing fixtures to creating vivid light installations to complement branding, destinations, or customer preferences. We’re excited to see how customers apply the technology.”
