Finnair has unveiled a new short-haul cabin on its newly refurbished E190 aircraft. This follows the €200 million renewal of the airline’s long-haul cabins earlier this year.
The updated cabin features two seating choices, lighting, and a refreshed colour palette that matches the long-haul aircraft and lounges at Helsinki Airport.
“After receiving positive feedback following the rollout of our new long-haul cabin, we wanted to invest in our regional aircraft to further improve comfort on flights within Europe,” said Eerika Enne, Finnair Head of Inflight Customer Experience.
She continued: “Our aim was to create a harmonious, fresh and inviting travel environment for our customers, with dark blue and grey colours and a hint of wooden laminate – colours our customers now associate with Finnair. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard our newly refurbished aircraft in the coming months, and with new lighter seats and cabins, we know these aircraft will help Finnair fly into the future.”
Rows 1-9, Business Class, now have seats with reclining functionality and added cushioning, while rows 10-25, Economy, have newly designed seats for increased comfort. Both seating options, and the carpets, are lighter, making each aircraft 150kg lighter than previously. These choices tie in with Finnair’s ambitions to reduce carbon emissions, with seven E190s to be refurbished this winter, followed by the fleet’s twelve remaining aircraft in the spring of 2026.
