Hawaiian Airlines has announced that it is now operating Starlink’s Wi-Fi as a complimentary feature for guests on all Airbus flights between the islands and the continental U.S, Asia, and Oceania.

Guests can use the Wi-Fi to work, watch content, or game once they board the flight. The airline was the first major U.S operator to use Starlink, initially on the Airbus A321neo aircraft, but has now expanded the connectivity across all 24 of its A330 fleet.

“Becoming the first major airline to offer travelers Starlink at no cost is a remarkable achievement for our team, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the overwhelmingly positive response from guests who have been enjoying our industry-leading connectivity onboard,” said Evan Nomura, director of inflight entertainment and connectivity and onboard products at Hawaiian Airlines.

Starlink operates using a low-Earth orbit constellation of satellites, allowing aircraft to maintain connectivity without interruption from anywhere on its global network. The next step for Hawaiian is to install Starlink on the flagship Boeing 787-9 fleet.

Earlier in September, United Airlines also announced that it would be deploying Starlink’s Wi-Fi onboard its entire mainline and regional fleet as a complimentary feature.
