Heron Aviation has expanded its Air Operator Certificate with the addition of a new Spanish-registered Citation Mustang.

The 2009 Mustang, complete with limited-edition High Sierra interior, has entered into service under the Spanish registration EC-LCX. Under the guidance of the German State Aviation Authority, enrolment of the aircraft onto the company certificate was officially completed on August 9.

The aircraft will mark the first incorporated onto Heron’s AOC in accordance with ICAO Article 83, contractually drafted and agreed by the respective national authorities of Germany and Spain in 2010, which establishes the cross-border oversight authority of foreign registered aircraft between the two countries.

The company said the addition of the aircraft will greatly expand Heron Aviation’s presence in the Mediterranean region, and also marks the concurrent expansion of the firm into southern Europe with Heron Aviation España.

The new Spanish subsidiary, based in Madrid, will oversee all sales and marketing activities for EC-LCX, featuring 24/7 sales support, “and a presence in one of the most important hubs in southern Europe.”

“With a base in northern Spain and the unsurpassed economics of the Citation fleet, EC-LCX is the clear choice for the urgent business trip or Mediterranean weekend,” the firm argued. “Considering a range of over 1,800 kilometres complemented by a cruising speed of over 600 km/h, nearly all of Europe is only a short comfortable hop away.”
