Maltese private aviation operator JetHouse has strengthened its premium onboard catering capabilities with the adoption of Cold Chain Technologies’ Advanced Insulated Box (AIB), enhancing food‑quality protection on long‑range missions and reinforcing its commitment to a first‑class passenger experience.

Since launching in 2024, JetHouse has built its reputation on tailored aircraft management and charter services for VIP clients, including heads of state, sportspeople and entrepreneurs. Its long‑range operations — including transatlantic flights — require a catering solution that can preserve food quality, support personalised menus and meet the service expectations associated with the JetHouse brand.

Catering requests vary widely, from comfort dishes to luxury items, creating a clear need for dependable temperature control. JetHouse previously relied on dry ice supplied by airport caterers but began seeking a safer, simpler and more cost‑effective alternative for its long‑haul fleet.

The advanced insulated box maintains safe food temperatures for up to 24 hours without dry ice, electricity or crew intervention. Using vacuum‑insulated panels and phase‑change materials, the AIB delivers consistent temperature performance and is designed to integrate seamlessly into standard airline infrastructure.

Following a successful trial in 2025, JetHouse adopted the AIB for long‑range missions, eliminating the need to order, store and handle dry ice. The passive system simplifies chilled‑food management and removes the burn risk associated with dry‑ice handling.

Operational benefits were immediate. Crew no longer need to coordinate dry‑ice orders for specific sectors, while catering teams gained a reusable, easier‑to‑handle system suited to private charter operations where menus are customised flight by flight. The reusable format also streamlines catering logistics and reduces reliance on consumable materials, supporting JetHouse’s drive for greater operational efficiency.

Basile Desquiens, NPGO and security manager at JetHouse, said: “At JetHouse, every detail matters. Whether our passengers request comfort food or gourmet cuisine, they expect the same uncompromising quality when it reaches them. The AIB gives our crew the confidence to preserve that quality throughout long‑range flights while simplifying our ground operations.

“We had been using dry ice, but it was expensive, difficult to organise and not always easy to work with. After trialling the AIB, it was clear it would be a good match for our aircraft. It removed the need for dry ice, made the process easier for the crew and gave us a reliable way to support food safety on long‑range flights.”
