Malaysia Airlines has once again been recognised for the strength of its wine programme, earning seven medals at the 2026 Cellars in the Sky Awards by Business Traveller. The carrier secured two Gold awards for its Business Class Lounge Wine Cellar and Business Class Lounge Red Wine, the latter awarded to its Château Larteau Bordeaux Supérieur 2022.

The airline’s Golden Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) continues to anchor its premium ground experience, offering travellers a refined environment to relax and dine before departure. The lounge’s award‑winning wine selection complements a culinary offering that includes authentic Malaysian dishes, the signature Live Noodle Station, international buffet options and a wide range of desserts.

Building on its strong performance at the 2025 awards, Malaysia Airlines received seven medals across multiple categories this year:

GOLD Business Class Lounge Wine Cellar

GOLD Business Class Lounge Red Wine – Château Larteau Bordeaux Supérieur 2022

SILVER Business Class Lounge White & Rosé – Domaine Tholomies La Chapelle 2024

SILVER Business Class Lounge Red – Oxford Landing Shiraz 2024

BRONZE Business Class White – Vavasour Chardonnay 2023

BRONZE First Class Lounge Sparkling – Champagne Philippe Gonet Brut Reserve

BRONZE Business Class Lounge White & Rosé – Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc 2025

Among the Gold‑winning selections, the Château Larteau Bordeaux Supérieur 2022 stood out for its deep colour and rich, rounded profile. Produced on the same riverside land since 1776, the wine received a 93.0 score from the Cellars in the Sky judging panel, praised for its complexity, savoury character and black‑fruit notes.

All wines were blind‑tasted by an independent panel of internationally recognised experts — Charles Metcalfe, Sam Caporn MW, Peter McCombie MW and John Worontschak — supported by industry consultant Kelly Stevenson. Each entry was assessed on appearance, aroma, flavour, balance, complexity, length and overall quality, with no reference to airline, producer or price point to ensure impartiality.

The accolades reinforce Malaysia Airlines’ focus on elevating the customer experience through service quality, product innovation and its signature Malaysian Hospitality. The airline’s Business Class offering includes priority services, Golden Lounge access and personalised assistance at KLIA. Eligible passengers can also use the Private Terminal Transfer service, featuring a fleet of Mercedes‑Benz sedans for transfers between the main terminal and satellite building.

On board, Business Suite and Business Class customers enjoy Malaysian‑inspired dining and a selection of award‑winning wines. Malaysia Airlines operates twice‑daily flights from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur, with onward connections to more than 60 destinations in over 20 countries. Passengers benefit from on‑demand entertainment via MHstudio, a 20kg baggage allowance and complimentary unlimited Wi‑Fi across all cabins on the A350‑900.
