Mirus Aircraft Seating teams up with Greenpower Education Trust to help inspire future generation

Mirus Aircraft Seating has announced that the company is teaming up with Greenpower Education Trust to help inspire a future generation of innovators and engineers by sponsoring the International Finals of its electric car motor race at Goodwood Motor Circuit, West Sussex.

At the event on Sunday 13 October, 100 teams of budding engineers aged between 11 to 25 will race their self-constructed electric racing cars in the F24 and F24+ categories, with as many as 1,200 young people taking part in the final.

Mirus Aircraft Seating says the company is supporting the event as a regional sponsor and will help with judging and presenting awards on the day, including Best Presented, Best Engineered, Most Sustainable Bodywork, the Spirit of Greenpower and the Portfolio Award for the best documented team project.

Ben McGuire, CEO of Mirus Aircraft Seating, says: “I love this concept and all it embodies, it captures everything I found interesting as a young person all rolled into one, simple achievable mechanics, cars, and ultimately racing. The challenge of trying to beat others in a car that you’ve helped to make, is just the thing to stimulate young potential engineers into budding engineers who will then hopefully want to follow this interest and turn it into a wonderful career.

“We are excited to sponsor and be part of the Greenpower Education Trust Challenge aimed at inspiring the next generation of young engineers through the design, build and racing of electric cars. It’s great to see the passion and determination of the young teams who have been on an exciting journey to reach the finals, and each and every one of them should feel proud of their achievements.

“We’re looking forward to supporting the judges on the day and seeing the creativity shine through design work and innovative builds, created by the individuals and teams in both age categories. To be able to nurture an interest in engineering at a young age is a wonderful thing, which is why we’re privileged to be able to support projects such as those created by the Greenpower Education Trust as they pave the way for our future with the next generation of engineers. We wish the very best of luck to all the finalists.”
