Fokker Techniek first in the world to outfit ACJ319neo with VIP cabin

The first day of the Asian Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (ABACE) has seen Fokker Techniek sign a contract with long-term customer K5-Aviation to carry out the world’s first ever VIP completion of an ACJ319neo.

The state-of-the-art cabin interior will include the latest IFE and communication technologies and is scheduled to be ready for delivery at the beginning of 2020.

Luca Madone of K5-Aviation declared that: “Awarding Fokker Techniek this prestigious project was a logical continuation of the existing relationship both companies have from previous projects. We believe Fokker will deliver again on time and according to our highest expectations. The aircraft will have a modern interior with a focus on saving weight and will include the latest interior technologies.”

Stating how “proud” he was, Jeff Armitage, Fokker Techniek’s managing director, said: “This will be the first ever ACJ319neo aircraft for VIP cabin outfitting worldwide. It’s a privilege that K5 selected our engineering and completion once more.”

Meanwhile John Pritchard, CEO GKN Aerostructures and Systems Europe & Asia, which acquired Fokker Techniek in 2015, reinforced that the cutting-edge cabin will “express superb style and include the very latest in IFE and Communications. The heritage of our company will be used once again to serve an impressive end-result.”

Bombardier’s Singapore Service Centre completes Ka-band installation on Global 6000 aircraft

Bombardier’s Singapore service centre has installed its first Ka-band system on an in-service Global 6000 aircraft, two years after installing the first-ever Ka-band system on an in-service Global 5000 aircraft.

“Our customers need to stay connected no matter where they are in the world, and Bombardier continues to lead the industry in offering the most advanced in-flight media experience available today on both its new and in-service aircraft,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, vice president and general manager, customer experience, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “With Ka-band, passengers can remain connected across oceans, at 41,000 feet, and virtually everywhere they fly. Moreover, our OEM-owned service centres have become masters of the installation to ensure aircraft are returned to service within a minimum downtime.”

“In Asia Pacific, business jet owners and operators are demanding better, faster, and more consistent in-flight Wi-Fi that is identical as what they have on the ground. With Honeywell’s JetWave hardware and GoDirect Cabin services, business jet owners and operators now have the ability to manage usage and bandwidth to be cost effective,” said Andy Gill, senior director, business and general aviation, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Aerospace. “This new generation of technology is a complete step change from previous generations of airborne hardware allowing a much smoother installation process. We have been working very closely with the Bombardier team to minimise the down time for Jetwave installations, so operators can adopt this technology with a minimum amount of disruption to their flight operations, which has been key to the rapid adoption of our JetWave system by leading business jet manufacturers like Bombardier.”

Located at Seletar Airport, Bombardier’s Singapore service centre is one of nine service centres, six line maintenance stations and 23 Mobile Response Team vehicles that comprise Bombardier’s worldwide maintenance network.

Dassault Falcon Jet retrofits tenth Falcon with Gogo AVANCE L5

Dassault Falcon Jet has retrofitted its tenth Falcon with Gogo AVANCE L5. STCs for the platform have been approved for four Falcons so far – the 7X, 900EX EASy, 2000 and 2000EX EASy. The air-to-ground in-flight connectivity system can be installed at all Dassault Aircraft Services centres or Falcon Authorised Service centres.

“The Gogo AVANCE L5 not only offers a better user experience but also enables streaming, on-demand movies, moving maps and flight information with a remote diagnostics and support capability all in a single box,” said Geoff Chick, senior vice-president of customer service for Dassault Falcon Jet. “It’s a major step forward in our constant search to maximise the customer experience.”

In addition to a top quality technical installation, Dassault’s AVANCE L5 retrofit ensures seamless integration of antennas and Line Replaceable Units (LRU), minimising the impact on drag and provides room for future scalability and growth.

Clay Lacy fits Gulfstream G450 with Gogo AVANCE L5 4G

Clay Lacy Aviation has installed the Gogo AVANCE L5 4G technology platform in a Gulfstream G450. During April, Clay Lacy is scheduled to install additional Gogo AVANCE L5 systems in a Falcon 2000EX and a second Gulfstream G450.

“Gogo AVANCE L5 allows our clients to take their entire digital lifestyle with them throughout the US and the coasts of Canada, making the most of every moment they are in the air,” said Ed Mirzakhanian, Clay Lacy’s vice-president of maintenance and business development. “Installation requires just six days of downtime if the aircraft is already provisioned, and 17 days if not. It is also future-ready, so clients can easily move up to Next Gen network performance when that technology comes online.”

TUI Airlines line-fit launch customer for UltraLite system

TUI Airlines has become the first customer for Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems’ (AES) UltraLite in-seat power system, following line-fit certification.

The EmPower UltraLite system is a new, lightweight architecture providing high output USB power for passenger use without the need for a power supply unit installed at each seat group.

The UltraLite system is now line-fit offerable on any Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft and will be line-fit delivered on Airbus in the third quarter of 2018.

“We are pleased to announce TUI Airlines as the line-fit launch customer for our revolutionary new UltraLite system, and are confident that our in-seat power solution will deliver an excellent passenger experience. The installation went flawlessly and the system is performing well,” said Dennis Markert, director of business development, Astronics AES.

 

Greenpoint Technologies wins latest 747-8 Aeroloft contract

Greenpoint Technologies has signed its sixth 747-8 Aeroloft contract with an unnamed, private customer.

The Aeroloft is a modular product featuring a customisable stairway leading to eight private sleeping suites above the main deck between doors 4 and 5 of the 747-8. The solution provides passengers with a comfortable rest area away from the main cabin during flight. The Aeroloft kit reflects Greenpoint’s unique business model that allows installations to occur at multiple qualified facilities.

Following years of development, production, installations and testing, the Aeroloft truly is an efficient use of space on any 747-8 aircraft. FAI Technik becomes authorised Rockwell Collins dealer

FAI Technik GmbH, part of the FAI Aviation Group, has signed a dealership agreement with Rockwell Collins to become one of its accredited dealers.

Effective immediately, the agreement means FAI Technik can sell, install and maintain Rockwell Collins’ avionics and cabin electronics equipment from its headquarters at Albrecht Dürer International Airport in Nuremberg, Germany.

The announcement marks a new phase in the relationship between Rockwell Collins and the broader FAI Aviation Group, which began in July 2016 and was formally launched on 5 January, 2018.

Rockwell Collins’ regional sales manager for Germany, Robert White, commented, “Given FAI’s growth since 2016, we believe we are best placed to take advantage of the upturn within business aviation. Adding FAI Technik to our group of dealers in Europe brings an encouraging scope to both our cabin and avionics capabilities, providing our customers with targeted aftermarket solutions being carried out by a competent and qualified dealer.

Diehl Aerosystems launches on-site-support service to support Boeing South Carolina

Diehl Aerosystems has officially launched its On-Site-Support Service (OSS) in Charleston, South Carolina, US.

The Diehl OSS in the Leeds area near Charleston is based in a newly refurbished facility covering 550 sq meters, and will be overseen by service supplier Vartan.

This local presence will enable Diehl to provide the ability and agility to deliver just-in-time support to the growing demands of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family production system, for which it provides state-of-the-art cabin interior lighting solutions. The facility also has the potential for expansion to support additional activities such as warehousing and kitting along with capacity for potential growth opportunities.

MAC Interiors completes cabin modification project for Med-View Airlines

MAC Interiors has completed the full cabin modification of a Med-View Airlines Boeing 767 aircraft.

The UK-based aircraft interior specialist served as a total technical care partner to Med-View, unlike previously when MAC Interiors was limited to kit supplies.

The project started with a galley refurbishment, before Med-View identified the potential to amplify the scope of the project to complete cabin modification; covering the design of the full concept, lavatory updates, installation of surveillance cameras and lighting throughout the entire cabin, production & installation of carpets, curtains and new dividers, stowage installation, GPS installation, as well as the modification of all business, premium and economy class seats.

“This is a benchmark project for MAC Interiors to emphasise our umbrella brand’s ‘Total Technical Care’ attitude.” said Rubin Flower, VP of Sales. “This has been a very exciting and educating challenge for us, the significance of such an experience is unmeasurable. We certainly are looking forward to similar business in the near future as we will apply our experience and knowledge from the whole project.”
