Flydrate, a new hydration drink formulated specifically for commercial air travel, has launched in Farnborough to coincide with the Farnborough International Airshow.

Developed by scientists in collaboration with airline pilots and cabin crew, the product is designed to address the extremely low humidity levels experienced in aircraft cabins – conditions that can drop to “as low as 10 to 12 per cent relative humidity at cruising altitude”, significantly lower than the Sahara Desert.

The company says the drink was created to counter the dehydration effects associated with long haul flying, where passengers can lose “up to two litres of water through breathing alone”. Flydrate’s formula combines electrolytes and vitamins, contains no sugar or caffeine, and is packaged in 250ml cans designed for travel friendly use.

The launch includes early distribution across several UK aviation and hospitality locations. Flydrate is already stocked throughout Farnborough Airport – including passenger lounges, crew areas and FBO hospitality – and is available at the Aviator Hotel, Battersea Heliport, Cotswold Airport’s AV8 restaurant, the Negus 747 bar and Blackbushe Airport’s Pathfinder Café. Further listings in airport retail and private aviation are planned through 2026.

Founder Laurence Nair Price said the product was developed with input from flight crews to address the realities of cabin dryness and fatigue. “We built Flydrate with the people who fly for a living,” he said.

Flydrate is produced by Cabin Balance Ltd, based at Farnborough’s Airport Business Park, with a recommended retail price of £3.80.
