Panasonic Avionics has unveiled Converix at AIX 2025, an open and neutral application hosting platform to expand IFE storage potential and provide AI virtual assistance.
The solution is compatible with all aircraft types and is modular and scalable. It enables airlines to regain control of their operations, such as IFE and IFEC integration, cabin and galley operations, and lighting, as well as monitor aircraft data, crew operations and cabin maintenance and inventories. Equally, airlines will have the freedom to add third party applications for a customisable experience.
Meanwhile, the AI virtual assistant can assist passengers by providing information on luggage, the destination, connections, or hotel and car reservations as examples. Accompanying this, data services can deliver personalised advertising.
“For the past two years, Panasonic Avionics has been focused on two strategic initiatives – to redefine the passenger experience and to reimagine the airline ownership experience,” said Ken Sain, Chief Executive Officer, Panasonic Avionics. “Converix builds on the success of our Astrova seat-end IFE solution, and is designed with the same commitment to innovation, industrial design, and modularity. It represents the latest solution from Panasonic Avionics that helps airlines maximize digital engagement, drive loyalty economics, and improve operational efficiencies.”
Converix uses Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI to analyse multiple terabytes of structured and unstructured data, and provide consumable and data-rich airline analytics such as daily CEO and executive reports to greatly improve operational efficiency.
“Converix embraces the key tenants that drive our product strategy – design, technology, and sustainable modularity – to create a radical game-changing solution for the airline industry,” commented Andy Masson, Senior Vice President of Product and Strategy for Panasonic Avionics. “It transforms the airline ownership experience with a modular design that is both lighter and consumes less power. It improves operational efficiencies by eliminating the need for multiple server boxes running separate systems. It also gives passengers what they want – endless personalised content instantly at their fingertips.”
The storage capacities of one Converix box can support four years of 4K media, or 106 years of standard definition content.
