PEW 2019: Spafax enhances Profile with lounge streaming

Global entertainment and media agency Spafax has unveiled a new “stream in the lounge” feature to Spafax Profile, its entertainment personalisation platform.

Designed to engage passengers pre-flight and help them plan their entertainment before they fly, Spafax Profile’s newest integration allows passengers to begin streaming movies and TV shows in the airport lounge and resume watching once connected in-flight.

Spafax Global vice president of Technical Sales, Kevin Birchmore said: “Spafax Profile is built as an open, system-agnostic platform, designed to enrich and improve all connected IFE hardware solutions. Our open APIs connect with airline integration points and third party apps, enabling next-gen entertainment experiences for our clients’ passengers.”

Pre-flight features include ‘Ask Alexa’ what’s playing in flight, the ability to watch trailers, read articles and explore related titles as manage a favourites list.

In the lounge, passengers can login and access their saved playlist, begin watching movies and TV shows, via internet or local server which have browser-based DRM (digital rights management).

In-flight, passengers can resume watching movie and TV shows, explore popular titles and receive up next recommendations based on viewing history.
