Qatar Airways has officially installed Starlink in-flight connectivity on 30 of its 777s, marking over 50 per cent of the fleet. The first Starlink-enabled 777 was launched four months ago, and two months ago the airline surpassed its original target of 12 aircraft during 2024, achieving 15 instead.

The airline has managed to reduce its installation time per aircraft from three days to nine and a half hours, with the overhaul not affecting operations or flight schedules by timing the installations within an overnight timeframe.

“We are delivering on our commitment to provide our passengers the best in-flight connectivity at an unprecedented pace,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. “In just four months since launching the world’s first Boeing 777 Starlink-equipped flight, we have already installed this ground-breaking service on 30 aircraft—far exceeding our initial targets. This reflects the commendable efficiency and dedication of our team. Starlink Wi-Fi is a game-changer for our passengers who will soon enjoy uninterrupted connectivity on even more routes.”

Following on from the increased speed of installation, Qatar Airways expects to achieve a fully-Starlink enabled 777 fleet by Q2 2025, which should be offered free of charge to passengers.
