Scandinavian Airlines has unveiled Flavors by SAS, a food and drink initiative that aims to provide a more diverse range of options for passengers, launching 1 October 2025 in European Business Class.
Flavors by SAS is based on New Nordic by SAS, a concept that was launched in 2017 that shared Scandinavian specialities with passengers but with a modern twist, however the new edition will feature globally inspired dishes.
The initiative will also bring increased flexibility to SAS’ dining to enable the airline to change meals in relation to flight times, service neds, and available space. Other features of Flavors by SAS will include new menus, a tiered meal service, rolling menu rotations, and a more luxurious presentation in Business Class, such as the use of porcelain, glass, and stainless steel dinnerware.
“While SAS has always been about bringing Scandinavia to the world, this new concept, Flavors by SAS, brings the world to Scandinavia, incorporating bold and diverse flavors inspired by Europe, the U.S., Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean,” said Aron Backström, Vice President Product & Loyalty at SAS. “SAS’ innovative dining approach and rotating menu system sets a new standard in inflight dining, providing a flexible, customer-centric alternative to traditional static menus. This dynamic model positions SAS at the forefront in innovation and adaptability within airline food and beverage service.”
SAS also intends to use this new dining scheme to operate more sustainably, with reduced food waste, local sourcing when possible, minimal plastic packaging with recyclable materials and the reduction of single-use items.
