Design consultancy PriestmanGoode has announced that the company has completed its latest collaboration with Korean Air which involved PriestmanGoode designing new cabin interiors for the airline.
The new cabin identity will be integrated in Korean Air’s new 787-9 and 787-10 Business Class and Economy Class cabins, with the carrier’s A321neo aircraft interior also being influenced by the programme. Daniel MacInnes, Director of PriestmanGoode said: “Korean Air invests confidently in design to achieve unique levels of cabin detailing and quality for their passengers. We’ve achieved a new contemporary vision of Korean identity which is a timeless product but firmly recognisable for Korean nationals and interesting for the airline’s global customer base.”
The interiors offer a contemporary vision and timeless elegance, focusing on quality and durability. PriestmanGoode says that three key elements were developed and integrated around the themes of colour, pattern and form.
When it comes to colours, a blend of dark and light neutrals was used, with warmth being derived from layering rich textures, brushed finishes and pressed fabric patterns. PriestmanGoode’s CMF team also developed custom patterns for the interiors. According to the company, the first pattern draws inspiration from Jogakbo patchwork craft, featuring geometric shapes and structured designs in a modern repeating motif. The second pattern draws from the linear dynamic structures from the Jogakbo pattern and the third pattern incorporates vibrant colours from Hanbok saekdong, creating a lively design that reflects Korea’s cultural diversity and global connections.
