Inflight Editor Satu Dahl was delighted to take part in an exclusive tour of Virgin Atlantic’s most recently delivered Airbus A330-900neo aircraft G-VSRB, also known as Ruby Rebel, at the Farnborough International Airshow on Tuesday 23 July.
The aircraft has a special 40th birthday decal design to celebrate the airline’s special birthday and will be on display at the air show until Thursday 25 July.
Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class features Thompson Vantage XL Upper Class seats, with 32 seats, four abreast. The Premium Class offers 46 spacious Collins MIQ seats and Economy Class features Recaro’s CL3710 seating, with 184 seats in the cabin.
The spacious Retreat Suite at the front of the Upper Class cabin offers dual or quad dining capabilities, full privacy doors with ‘do not disturb’ function, 6ft 7” fully flat beds, 27” touchscreen monitors and up to 22” seat width, as well as passenger-controlled mood lighting and extensive stowage.
The Virgin Atlantic A330neo’s social space, the Loft, is an exclusive spot with a self-service fridge for Upper Class customers and has space for eight people with four comfy seats. The touch screens allow passengers to connect Bluetooth headphones.
All cabin classes have custom mood lighting, Safran Passenger Innovations’ Rave in-flight entertainment systems and Viasat Ka-Band connectivity. Wireless, USB A/C charging and AC outlets are also available on board, as well as improved stowage and Bucher Galleys.
Ruby Rebel, which is the fifth A330neo delivered to the carrier as part of the aircraft order announced in 2019, has been named to salute Sir Richard Branson. Virgin Atlantic is continuing its transformation towards 100% next generation aircraft by 2028.
