Air New Zealand has launched its Great Kiwi Snack Off competition. The winners of the snack competition, which aims to review the airline’s snack offering and expand the range and rotation of its current options, will be included on the airline’s flights by the end of 2023.

The competition, which is the first review of the airline’s offering since 2018, will consider snacks from domestic and short-haul flights to longer international and ultra long haul flights.

The airline’s Great Kiwi Snack Off begins with an open tender approach, with suppliers across New Zealand encouraged to make a submission between 17 April and 1 May. Successful suppliers will then receive a closed Request for proposal (RFP) document later in May, with the winners to be included in the airline’s onboard snack offering by the end of the year.

Air New Zealand encourages all suppliers across New Zealand to apply, including existing suppliers, as well as bespoke and boutique companies which might not be so well known.

Suppliers will be judged based on alignment with four main criteria; celebrating the provenance of the Māori and Pasifika regions; providing innovative flavours or variety; being environmentally friendly; and being consumer conscious, catering to different dietary requirements and allergies.
