Iberia Upgrades Its On-Board Service which includes a More Sustainable and Digital Travel Experience

Iberia has launched several innovations on board its flights including redesigned menus, improved services on long-haul flights and a new personalised digital experience in all cabin classes.

The carrier’s in-flight meals have been redesigned with DO & CO catering company which worked with Iberia to improve the quality of the menu designs in all cabins and flights while also maintaining the Spanish focus.

Iberia says it has improved its current in-flight service and added new features such as a movie snack. It offers a Magnum Choc Ice on flights less than 10.5 hours from Madrid and a cookie during flights to Madrid which customers can enjoy while watching a movie.

The carrier serves tapas on longer flights originating from Madrid, including a selection of cold cuts, bread sticks and olives. A vegetarian version is also available. On return flights, customers will be served sandwiches and, on night flights, crackers and cookies.

In Business, the snack service features new healthy products such as fruit baskets and hot and cold sandwiches.

The service before landing has additional products depending on the arrival time of the flight. Hot and cold sweet and savoury dishes, as well as the Iberia signature omelette for breakfast, is offered.

Iberia says it is reducing 200 tons of plastics on board thanks to various initiatives that it has already implemented. This is mainly from the replacement of in-flight catering elements, with others made of more environmentally friendly materials such as bamboo or paper.

The new Gastrobar range features a new selection of drinks, sweet and savoury snacks, including snack boxes, Starbucks coffee and Tetera Azul teas.

The airline says it will also launch a Gastrobar@seat service so they can make their selection directly from their phones via shop.iberia.com to make it easier for customers to select their drinks.

Digital future

As another new addition, Iberia has designed a digital tool where customers can manage their experience from a single link. Passengers can learn about in-flight meals, the Gastrobar service range and the entertainment system through the platform, as well as download digital press and purchase Wi-Fi packages to surf the Internet during their flight.

The IFE system on board long-haul flights includes over 250 Hollywood, Spanish, European and international films; more than 1000 series, television programme and documentaries, and more than 200 audio titles, including music, podcasts and audiobooks, which are updated every month.

From June, a space dedicated to podcasts has been added by Sonora, the leading Spanish-language audio entertainment platform, which stands out for its original productions and for having premiered the most podcasts in 2022.
