Icelandair

Icelandair is bringing the carrier’s homeland’s festive traditions to its customers on board flights in the lead up to Christmas.

Traditional Christmas foods, cup and napkin decorations and presents to children on board are all part of the celebrations. Children will receive a gift “from Santa Claus” for 13 days before Christmas and, if flying on Christmas Eve, children will also receive a Christmas present from Icelandair.

The carrier says that, when flying with Icelandair over the Christmas period, passengers will see Yule Lads like Pot-Scraper (who steals leftovers) or Door-Slammer (who wakes sleepers during the night by slamming doors) decorating their in-flight cups and napkins.

Iceland has its fair share of seasonal food and drink and Icelandair will also be sharing these Yuletide specialties with passengers. They include Maltextrakt (a sweet malt drink), hot chocolate, Christmas chocolates, a festive flat cake with smoked ham as well as Christmas almonds. Passengers will also receive a traditional Sara cookie with their coffee on some routes.
