Singapore-based IIM+ has launched its LIVE TV and LIVE RADIO over IP delivery platform for airlines.

The platform is powered by IIM+’s patented signalling server technology that reduces bandwidth usage by an alleged 98%. The service requires connectivity but no additional hardware or software therefore, guaranteeing a seamless and immediate integration.

Passengers will have complete flexibility to watch and listen on their own devices in a zero-touch environment.

A key attribute of IIM+ is the elimination of traditional licensing fees. The platform is a client delivery mechanism that allows passengers the ability to view or purchase premium and live content through their existing SVOD subscriptions. Broadcast feeds will be securely parsed to the IIM+ signalling servers in Singapore in order to achieve the substantial bandwidth and cost savings that airlines are striving for.

“COVID stunned the airline industry and created an opportunity to rethink IFE. IIM+ has changed the game. With content now readily available on demand as a result of technology advances and end device capability, a successful entertainment strategy for an airline can no longer be merely access to movie and tv libraries that provide some marketing volume but have no attractiveness for passengers. When travel opens up, innovation will be key. LIVE TV and LIVE RADIO offer airlines the opportunity to meet passenger expectations and reduce costs – a rare combination,” said Ong Yong Beng, CEO of IIM+.

“IIM+ enables passengers to replicate an ‘at home’ experience in-flight. You will be able to log into your premium SVOD account and watch the big game live on DAZN or the latest episode of your favourite series on HBO Max,” added Christopher Schmidt, Chief Content Officer at IIM+.
