Magnetic MRO has added a handheld 3D scanner, the Shining 3D FreeScan X7, a handheld to its selection of tool.
The scanner was first used in January 2019 on a Boeing 767 aircraft as part of the latest partnership between Magnetic MRO’s subsidiary brand MAC Aero Interiors and travel company TUI. This new four-year contract between the two companies includes the production of 20 lavatory units for TUI’s Boeing 767-300 fleet.
The first scan was done by Magnetic MRO’s Structural Engineering Manager Sergei Dulberg himself. “In our rapidly developing time, working with digital technologies is becoming the norm for the engineering and technical staff of aviation companies. Particularly in the areas where the result of the work directly depends on the accuracy of measurements. Digital images of objects – their parts or surfaces – obtained using 3D scanning and their processing with the use of special software makes it possible to quickly and accurately obtain high-precision technical parameters of these objects, which ultimately makes it possible to correctly assess their condition and further provides the necessary data for their design and manufacture,” commented Dulberg.
He added that laser scanning and digital data processing minimises the influence of the human factor on the measurement results, and significantly reduces the time to obtain them. “This new device has great application potential in almost any field, and it allows us to open up new opportunities for our clients.”
FreeScan X7 is an ultra-portable handheld 3D laser scanner with a flexible and convenient scanning mode, providing high accuracy and stability, and covering all the depth and thickness measurements. The device is applicable to a wide range of operating environments and a variety of measured objects. It can dramatically improve time and cost efficiency by reducing the manpower needed for a project.
