Vietjet selects up to 24,000 Safran's Z200 seats for its new fleet

Safran Seats has announced that Vietjet is to equip its upcoming Boeing 737 MAX fleet with up to 24,000 Safran Z200 Economy class seats.

According to Safran, the aircraft are planned for deliveries starting in mid-2024. The new Z200 seat is one kilogram lighter than the previous one, contributing to the airline’s long-term sustainability objective by reducing fuel costs and carbon emissions.

Victoria Foy, Safran Seats CEO, said: “We are thrilled to provide Vietjet with our latest generation of Economy class seats. This is the first time that we partner together, and we are delighted to support Vietjet’s operations for the years to come. We wish their passengers a very good flight experience.”

The seats include a PED (Portable Electronic Device) holder and USB ports and combine comfort, lightness and durability. Safran says the Z200 Efficient+ configuration brings an optimised total cost of ownership thanks to its low weight, parts quantity reduction and ease of maintenance.

Dinh Viet Phuong, Vietjet CEO, said: “The selection of the latest generation seat Z200 affirms Vietjet’s commitment to modernising our fleet by investing in the core details of the aircraft’s cabin interior to ensure passengers’ utmost comfort and convenience.

“The advanced technology and rich experience of the industry leaders like Safran will also support Vietjet to continue reaching higher technical reliability and operation optimisation, thus bringing the most enjoyable and affordable flying experiences to all of our passengers.”
