Cabin mockup featuring AERQ digital displays

AERQ, a joint venture of LG Electronics and Lufthansa Technik, has officially launched, aiming to “digitalise aircraft cabins by providing a new kind of digital ecosystem in and around the aircraft fuelled by hardware, software and data.”

“Digitalisation rapidly changes both passenger expectations and possibilities for airlines to grow. This is why we are ready to support the airline industry with our aviation know-how and innovative holistic approach to digitalise aircraft cabins” said Arnd Kikker, Managing Director at AERQ.

AERQ offers an open IT platform that consists of onboard touchpoints and a software architecture that allows control and customisation. This includes the Inseat System, an in-flight entertainment system that integrates passengers’ own devices and the OLED-based Cabin Digital Signage.

Introduced at the FlyingLab in September 2019, the Welcome Board can greet passengers onboard the aircraft and functions also to enhance the airline brand while providing passenger relevant information. This technology can also be applied to Ceiling Panels to provide passengers with a customised cabin experience, while the airline can enhance their brand awareness. The company also offers the Transparent Class Divider for aircraft cabins, a state-of-the-art OLED display that divides large cabin environments.
