American Airlines enhances IFE and connectivity on board

American Airlines has shared details about how it is enhancing its in-flight Wi-Fi and entertainment offering on the carrier’s flights.

One of these developments includes AAdvantage® members being able to use miles to pay for Wi-Fi on board. By summer, all of the carrier’s Viasat-equipped narrowbody aircraft will offer this ability to unlock Wi-Fi in exchange for miles. Passengers will also be offered Wi-Fi gate-to-gate connectivity on most mainline aircraft.

American’s Wi-Fi portal has a new design that will further enhance the customer experience by making Wi-Fi offerings even more accessible for customers with a user-friendly Wi-Fi purchase process with fewer clicks and effective direct-to-customer communication through strategic pop-up messaging.

American has also announced that the carrier and Intelsat will begin installations of high-speed Wi-Fi on nearly 500 dual-class regional aircraft soon, helping even more passengers to have a connected inflight experience.

American Airlines says it updates approximately 200 titles monthly inspired by current entertainment trends, customer feedback and data analysis to create a robust content offering that includes Movies, TV Shows, Audio and Lifestyle options. This includes its Award Nominated channel, Women’s Stories channel and  Paramount Scares channel, as well as Hey Bear Sensory to captivate the attention of little ones contributing to a calm and stress-free journey for parents and nearby passengers.

Wellness content includes meditation, affirmations, seated stretches and self-care, and music fans can enjoy exclusive access to some of the most exciting artists around today through the airline’s Center Stage programme.
