FCC regulatory approval granted for Gogo Galileo terminals

Gogo Business Aviation has been granted Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulatory approval for the company’s Galileo HDX and FDX antenna terminals for business aircraft.

According to Gogo, the FCC Earth station in motion (ESIM) regulatory license allows the company the authority to commercialise and operate the terminals, which Gogo says are integral to its Gogo Galileo low-Earth orbit global broadband service, on US-registered aircraft, and those registered in other countries within U.S. territory including territorial waters.

“Receiving the ESIM license for the HDX and FDX terminals represents an important milestone in bringing the Gogo Galileo service to market by year end,” said, Crystal Gordon, executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Gogo. “This regulatory milestone also paves the way for additional regulatory authorizations in other countries.”

The HDX terminal flight testing is expected to start this summer after it is installed on Gogo’s Challenger 300 testbed and the HDX terminal is on track to receive certification and launch commercially later this year.
