M-TEST celebrates six months in operation

UK’s largest commercially available test facility, M-TEST, is celebrating a period of sustained success after six months of opening.

The Norfolk-based Mirus Aircraft Seating’s test facility has now received its ISO 17025 accreditation and has completed a number of tests for external customers.

Featuring a state-of-the-art dynamic test sled which is the most technologically advanced available, the primary ambition for the facility was to serve Mirus’ own goal of being able to create more advanced seats and accelerating their speed to market.

Since opening, Mirus says the company has successfully reduced the weight of its class-leading Kestrel seat to just 7kg fully-dressed, shattering the 7.5kg fully dressed barrier upheld by its competitors.

M-TEST received its ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation in July. It is a formal recognition from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service recognising that the facility is providing accurate and reliable test results.

Facility Manager of M-TEST, Nick Targett commented: “In the six months since the grand opening of M-TEST and the unveiling of the state-of-the-art servo sled, we have received our ISO 17025 certificate of accreditation from UKAS and completed our first tests for initial customers.

“It has been a fantastic team effort and I’m immensely proud of what our engineers have been able to accomplish in less than a year. This colossal progress is evidenced in mounting external interest in the facility, with increasing inbound enquiries from the automotive, aerospace and medical sector customers.

“While we continue to prioritise the development of Mirus’ seats, M-TEST now stands proudly as an established and entirely separate entity, and we look forward to a very exciting future for the facility.”
