LIFT Aero Design, a Tokyo and Singapore-based design studio specialising in airline branding and cabin design, has unveiled Paradym, a future cabin concept that proposes a single-aisle aircraft wider than currently flying aircraft.

Paradym features a so-called “wide flexible triple”: a 3 x 3 configuration, with 20-inches between armrests instead of the usual 17/18 inches, as well as two armrests between passengers instead of the usual one.  By raising the front of the seat bottom cushions, PARADYM transforms into a flat surface of 1.75 meters / 5 feet 9 inches. Tapered sides allow the arms to rest in a more natural position. There are full-wrap headrests for full support and privacy, while addition comfort is given by the seat bottom cushion which does not press into the back of the knees.

Targetting low-cost carriers and hybrid airlines, the entire cabin will have the same seat model, allowing operators to sell a seat as economy, premium economy, premium economy flat or business class light, maximising revenue.

Paradym assumes that future aircraft will be lighter as a result of new engine technology and new types of fuel for improved efficiency, making it possible for a wider fuselage.
